The chronology

A provisional outline of the lodge's history. Dates and particulars marked below await confirmation by the lodge historian; this page will grow as the record is verified.

  1. 1789

The Grand Lodge of New Hampshire is organized

Lodges of the young state convene to organize a Grand Lodge — the jurisdiction whose history this lodge exists to study.

    Pending confirmation

  2. 1964

Anniversary Lodge of Research No. 175 is chartered

On May 20, 1964 — the 175th anniversary of the Grand Lodge it exists to study — a lodge of research is chartered, carrying the anniversary in its name and number. Its work is papers, not degrees: reading the record carefully and publishing what survives the argument.

  3. 1990s

    The Transactions begin

The lodge establishes its annual volume of papers, research notes, and reviews, building the shelf this archive now carries forward.

    Pending confirmation

  4. 2026

    The Living Archive opens

The lodge's catalogue, lectures, and archival holdings begin moving to a permanent digital reading room, with the public catalogue you are reading now.

A fuller, documented history — with the founding papers themselves — is planned for the archive.
